A brief history

Savor the River Valley was born from a desire to enhance the economic vitality of the River Valley area—and thereby promote the wellbeing of its residents. Food tourism was identified as a happy marriage of two huge local assets: the number of tourists drawn to the area’s arts and architectural attractions and natural beauty combined with a dynamic community of innovative and artisanal farmers and food preparers. In late summer 2021, a small group of farmers and restaurateurs assembled to consider a food tourism initiative and decided it would be a great addition to our area’s offerings.

Since that day, many people have added their time, energy, and creative ideas to this initiative. It has been thrilling to see what happens when people put their hearts and minds together. We hope you will savor the experiences, the connections, and the awesome food highlighted by this collaboration.
